How Much Weight Can A 40 Yard Bin Hold?
Our 40-yard dumpster is 22 feet long, 8 feet wide, and 8.5 feet tall. It has a capacity of 40 cubic yards and a maximum weight of 12,000 pounds (6 tons). Note that weight capacity and dumpster size are not the same.
If you’re tossing out furniture, cabinets, drywall, framing lumber, or general demolition debris, you’ll fill this big trash can rental before you hit the weight limit.
Heavy materials like roofing shingles and tile add weight quickly. One roofing square (100 square feet of shingles) weighs about 250 to 300 pounds. A large roof tear-off can reach the weight limit while the dumpster still has plenty of room left.
That’s partly why concrete and soil aren’t accepted in this large roll off dumpster rental. They’d max out your 12,000 lbs before it’s even a third full.

What Are the Laws On Dumpster Diving In Wisconsin?
Wisconsin doesn’t have a law banning dumpster diving outright. Courts have generally treated stuff you throw out as abandoned once it’s out for collection.
But your trash bin rental sits on your driveway. That’s private property. Under Wisconsin’s law, Wis. Stat. § 943.13, someone climbing into a bin on your lot without your OK is trespassing. That’s it, that’s the whole rule.
Worried about old mail or paperwork with your name on it? Shred it before you toss it. For everything else, a simple ‘No Trespassing’ sign or a quick chat with anyone snooping around usually does the trick.

An empty 40-yard dumpster tips the scales at 5,000 to 6,500 pounds, depending on the container. None of that counts against your rental. We only track what you put inside, up to the 12,000 lb limit included in your quote.
Please don’t try to move the dumpster yourself. Roll-off dumpsters sit on steel rails, so they stay put in storms. Dragging the dumpster will tear up your driveway. If you want it moved, call us before you start loading. It’s way easier to shift an empty dumpster than a full one.
Only with a right-of-way permit from your city. If you keep the dumpster on your driveway or lot, you don’t need any extra paperwork. If you’re not sure what rules apply to your address, call us and we’ll help you figure it out.
Standard rental is 14 days. If a big remodel demands more time, just tell us in advance. We’ll arrange an extension, so late fees never blindside you.
